Default Final steno related questions

Right still getting conflicting information.

Do stenos need a daytime basking spot even though in the wild their more nocturnal. Then also do they need a UV tube?

thanks for any info guys!

Well from my past experience with them they are not strictly nocturnal; UVB will not harm anyway.

Indeed. But a light spray in the early morning or evening would also be greatly beneficial to them. I just used smooth-edged slate pieces as hides for them, and a few succulent plants. Oh, and be ready to have babies, make sure you have a supply of fruitflies when it happens

babies!?! Are they not sexable?

My only concern is the large majority are WC, so parasite checks for like 5 stenos I guess.

My plan was to provide quite a bit of decor. The floor would be mainly pieces of flat slate, with sand in between. Then cork bark, smooth edged hole-stone(large hole size) like in aquariums, I'm going to look around and see if I cant find some with big enough holes for them to venture through. Then a few fake plants, mopani wood, etc, try and give them as much surface area as I can, even if their not amazing climbers.

I'll use a tiny water bowl in one corner(cool end) and then possibly mist twice a week just as I go to bed(so late night.) to simulate morning dew.

Your ideas will be fine for sure.
I meant, they breed really readily, so you have to think as it may happen quickly, where to find appropriate food.

as cruel as it sounds if I get a mixed sex group I might remove the eggs and not incubate, at least for a while anyway, I haven't considered breeding really. Would the eggs actually hatch inside the vivarium? As in say one laid one somewhere I didn't notice such as in a hide(I image their tiny)?

I'd probably think about it at a later date but only if I knew there were buyers about, I wouldn't want any more myself, not until I have my own home anyway. But yeah I'd just order micro crix, fruit flies, mini mealies etc if I get hatchlings. only problem would be setting up lots of vivs, although maybe babies would be ok in decent sized RUBS with a heatmat under 3rd? instead of a basking spot.
