Default Monitor lizard HELP PLEASE

Hi can someone please give me an idea what a reasonable price is for a monitor lizard.

I think he is around 40 cm long.

Someone I know has been forced to get rid of one. She was willing to give it to anyone as she needed it gone.

What I'm going to do is look after it so I can find a suitable home rather than her being rushed in to giving it to someone who may not have the experience and love for it that it requires, and put a reasonable price on it so freebee hunters dont go crazy.

Many thanks

Steve

You will need to specify the type of monitor lizard - there are dozens that vary in price from £20 up to £2000+

Some of the most common ones include bosc (savannah) monitor, nile monitor, dwarf ridge tailed monitor (ackie), white/black throated monitor

Others include argus monitor, green tree monitor, emerald monitor, peacock monitor, blue tailed monitor.. the list goes on.

They're all different requiring different care and having different values.

The value of an animal would also depend on it's age, sex & health - an unhealthy or large bosc / nile monitor for example are quite commonly found in rescues and are often given away free as they have not been looked after correctly or have grown far larger than anticipated.

Yes, it's a bosc monitor. At that size most pet shops sell them for around £30-50

Ok thats great.

If I was to put it up for sale on here what do you think would be a good price to put it up for? and does anyone know anyone who would want it and want to keep it, oh and most of all know its proper care.

I know they get damn big LOL.
