Default Right really worried about my Bosc now, not eaten in a month. worried, plz help??

Right I am really concerned about my Bosc not eaten.
I have already posted my situation on here and Monitor Mad had recommend me something and that has not worked, but thank you Monitor Mad.

His temps and u.v are spot on so that's I am 100% sure that's not a problem.

What I am about to say might upset a few people and really hope it dose not.

The Vivarium he is in at the moment is way to small for him but I know this is not the reason why he is not eating, as I have had him over 5mnths now and he has never refused food like this before and he has always been in this Vivarium.

I normally feed him on a Monday and a Thursday, Monday he gets 2pound in money worth of mixed meat he likes and on Thursday he gets 2large Mice.

I do not feed him any insects as he has never showed any interest in them since I have had him and I have wasted loads on Insects because of him not eaten them.

The majority of the day he spends walking round the house but just lately he has gone of like he has with his food.

He always gets exercise as he will not do his business in his Vivarium so he goes outside to do so.

Another problem I am having with his when I take him in the Bath he just flops his head under the water until I pick his head up and then I bring him down in a Towel (SPOTLIT) and he just doesn't move at all till I put him in his Vivarium.

Any help will be much grateful and please can we all keep the Vivarium size out of this as he has always been in for a while there like said above.

Thank you all and hope to hear from you.

Slightly more seriously, have you taken it to a vet? Have you weighed it? Is it losing weight?

Sounds like a pretty poor diet to me, just getting meat, maybe thats done something to his internals?

Vet - only option.

your thread title says it all

REALLY WORRIED = VET

there is no real option but this.. you have said yourself you think it may be due to his vivarium but although that might be a contributing factor it could be a hundred other things too..

which over the internet sadly we wont be able to work out for you..

id start with looking at fecal smaples ( vet of course lol), and a general health check.. make 100% sure your vet is a reptile specialist not just someone with an interest in herps..

good luck xxxx

You said its been a month, I assume that the thing has been growing prior to this? So therefore viv size will have a large factor in it. If you know its too small, why not do something to remedy it?

You said the advice monitor mad gave you didnt work, so get the poor thing to a vet!

And yes, I believe a diet of just meat will be very detrimental to its overall health.

Really, as Sparkle said, your priority should be getting it to a vet.

After this you need to address the viv size and the diet as all of these factors could end up being the downfall of your Bosc

Get him to the Vet as soon as you can for fecals tests, do you weight him regualary? if yes how much has his weight gone down?

Also why have you not already moved him in to a bigger viv if you know the one he is in is to small?

A meat only diet is very bad for Bosc's, their diet should consist of 70 - 80% insects, if you feed them to much meat and crap like dog/cat food it can give them fatty liver disease and other health problems and also shorten their life span by half

just to clear all the bad things that people have in there head, my bosc is 100% better and in the same way as i got him.

i know that the viv is to small for him, but he was like this when i bought him and he never seen no harm since there.

so i will get a new viv when i have the money, until then he will stay were he is fine.

I have to say that it's abit irresponsible to say he is fine in a vivarium too small for him...

Would you feel the same if this was a dog kept in a tiny crate or a child whose parents dont buy it new clothes?

Everything grows and especially with a bosc, you are going to have to be prepared to get a HUGE vivarium in the end :\

I really hope we dont see another big lizard going up for sale or tales of an unfortunate death, I'm not having ago, it's just really upsetting...

Please listen to what people are advising you
