My crestie is in a naturally planted vivarium. I have a layer or hydroballs on the bottom, some screen on top of that to keep the dirt out of it and then a layer substrate. I used a mixture of jungle earth, coco fibre and eco earth. Just put the stuff i had on together to get the right consistency. There are plenty of 'recipies' online for substrates for naturally planted enclosures. You just want to stay away from anything with chemicals in it but most things should be okay as long as the plants and crestie are happy.

I don't have a picture of my cresties vivarium but here is my day geckos. It is essentially the same except that in the crestie i have branches instead of bamboo and it is a smaller exoterra tank. I have the substrate layers setup the same and it works great.
