Tell her that you need a pet. That if she loves you, then she should take you as you are, reps & all. Failing that, tell her that you're going to get a pet and mention getting an animal that she might be afraid of or dislikes. When she says no, mention another animal she doesn't like. When she says no, do it again, until eventually you mention a beardie and she'll see that after all the other ones you mentioned a beardie might not be so bad after all.......

Just reading your first post, I personally don't feel it's acceptable for her to run your life quite so much. You're allowed to have pets, and you're allowed to enjoy them. Putting that kind of hold on your life, early on in the relationship, isn't a good sign of things to come in my opinion. You need to stand up for yourself, and put your foot down about keeping a reptile. If my girlfriend even did that to me, it would've been a clear sign to me that she wasn't the right woman for me to spend my life with.

My OH isn't into reptiles (and is scared of the snake haha) but he knew before we even got together that I came with my pets and he dealt with it! He actually seems to quite like the geckos now. There would have been no way I'd have moved in with him if my reptiles couldn't come too, it just wouldn't happen that way and he knew it before we even got together.

Hiding your reptiles is not an option, you are not a child you are an adult and you should deal with things in an adult manner. What will she be making you give up next? Your friends and family? Quite frankly at the moment I'd be more concerned about this woman you are with rather than getting secret pets. Relationships are a bit of a compromise in some cases but IMHO living animals should not be compromised unless for a very valid reason.

Im lucky as my other half is ok with my reps...but he wasnt at first..its all part of the relationship and its called compromising... she is wrong to ask you to get rid...but your sooo wrong for considering it!! shame on you...Unless she is amazing...which i find hard to believe any of us are... tell her your keeping the beardies..END OF!!
