Daniel,

thanks for the update...

Can I just say that much as I can see where people are coming from with occasionally over the top remarks, it SHOULD be clear that an animal is unwell well before it gets to the stage this leo was in.
Now, we all need to start somewhere I agree, but my 2nd and 3rd leos were very small hatchlings which with hindsight I now know I should never have taken home.
They had MBD and other parasite problems and both died within 3 wks of me getting them..... Now - am I a bad boy for that, no. Because I realised they were not coming along properly and took them to a vet and had them treated, but by the time that happened it was too late.
It is a very fine line in making 'the call' regarding vet treatment as if you took every Leo to a vet every 2 days they don't feed, you may be there all the time.
However - if after 'several weeks' they are lethargic, not eating, losing weight then that is clearly neglect IMO. If a horse/dog/cat showed similar signs what would you do ?
If you or a person you knew were like that what would you do ?

I'd say apply this sort of criteria to all your reps.... It's not right that something isn't eating long term and is slowing down. Get a 2nd opinion if you aren't sure from a professional, don't vome on here asking 'is this ok'.....
If you're asking, it probably isn't is it ??

Sorry to hear about your leo... RIP.

I think the biggest thing when deciding on getting a next one is whether or not you could afford vets bills if they crop up. Put money aside every time you get paid for them... so you dont have to come on here saying "I really cant afford a vet."

I hope you understand through all the rubbish on the thread that this really insults the people on here who do take in ill animals and get them back to health through hard work and their own money.

Sorry again for your loss

Sorry if my previous comment sounded harsh (and i will edit it now to prevent more people getting upset - Edit: I cannot now but this is me apologising for upsetting anyone!) but its also the norm on here for people to come onto the forum, ask for help and say "i cannot afford the vet"... and i for one think it's sick.

If people cannot afford the care of an animal, they shouldn't have it. A forum full of people, even if they are experienced, can only tell so much from pictures and help very little in situations like this. Yet still people buy animals then come on here when theres problems thinking they can be solved without them having to spend a penny.

/rant.

I hope that the animal pulls through, or is put out of his misery asap, whichever is best. However the OP also said that they have noticed "recently" how recent is recent i wonder? A young animal should really be taken to a vet at the first signs of something being wrong, and i (hope to god not!) fear the OP has left it too late to take action, as three weeks can be a long time to a sickly baby animal.
It's not often i say this to someone, but f**k you Maddragon, who the f**k do you think you are?

Telling someone who is genuinely distressed and trying to help their animal that they should be ashamed of themselves? You're a pr*ck.

Of course you should be financially able to look after an animal. However, a few weeks after buying one, i wouldn't expect to be forking out for vets bills. People often aren't told this and if anything it should be the shops fault for not pointing this out.

And maybe the person isn't an expert in knowing what looks healthy and what doesn't. It's especialy hard to tell when they're so small and when you're not handling them yet.

So again, f**k you, and again, you're a pr*ck. This guy did the right thing by coming here asking for help and if you haven't got any for him, don't speak.

Just hate it when a*se holes think they have the right to lay into someone who has either made a mistake or doesn't have the experience to know if something's wrong.

We were all "noobs" at one time. You learn by asking questions and doing research. This guy did the right thing by coming here and asking. It was just unfortunate that it was too late.
