Default new to roach breeding

Hi
i am concerned my babies (Dubia) will escape and infest the house so how fine should the mesh be on top.
I am currently using a fauna box ie (can they climb the sides and escape?)

dubia roaches cant climb smooth surfaces or jump so you have nothing to worry about. as long as you dont have anything to close to the top of the tub then youll be fine =]

alot of people actually keep them without a lid on but i do more for peace of mind then anything else lol

hope that helps =]

have to say I don't use a substrate for my dubia's ~ it makes it a lot easier to clean them out and they're doing great

My dubias can climb, I think its because the surface of the plastic isn't completely smooth tho

I just use kitchen roll for my dubia roaches substrate used to use nothing but noticed its alot easier to clean when you put one strip of kitchen roll in. Had well over 1000 before but ended up just useing them for a couple of weeks and they depleted down to a miserable 15 or 20 adults lol so now I've got them going again and back into the hundreds as for the tupperware I use massive tubaware box and they thrieve in it just decreased the size due to only being about 20 adults. I've never had any of these escape on me that are pretty useless at climbing plastic.
