Ive read good things about bran as a substrate, Im thinking of giving that a go soon or at least making 1/4 of the viv bran so my beardies can dig,

Ive got mine on repticarpet and lino but it really depends what your after, slate tiles are good

I normally use lino tiles on all my beardies. They way i look at it is i wouldn't want sand getting in my bits if u know wot i mean lol so i wouldnt want it to happen to a beardie

Plus easier to clean etc

I am quite intrigued by the idea of oats n bran etc tho as breadrun says so i think ill take alook a bit more on that.

As for wattage of spot/ heat lamp all varies on size of viv and how warm ur house is etc

in our double viv stack we use playsand... only downside is that when you close the glass sliding doors on the bottom viv the sand falls through the gaps lol... if its well sealed you'll be fine x

the viv stack is 4Lx4Hx2W so each viv 4x2x2.

It all varies on how warm ur house is really n the distance between bulb n baskin spot. I cnt get away with using a 60w bulb even with the stat on full in my 4ft vivs however my oh's dad can. I tend to use 75 - 100w I'm actually in the middle of changing mine now tho to 75w halogen bulbs that give out enough light n heat as tho it was 100w n i found the beardies seem to bask a bit more under it then n it still heats the viv enough without anything extra. At nite it never drops below around 63 - 65f so i dnt really need a ceramic either.
I was advised about the bulb from another user on here n our beardies seem to like them better

UVB should be at last 10% although i know most ppl use the arcadia 12% ones
