Default tortoises with bearded dragons

hi every1! in my college at the reptile part they keep pancake tortoises in with adult bearded dragons, ive got a 6month old male, and a 18month old female bearded dragons but they live in different vivs, well i like the idea of keepin a tortoise with 1 of my beardies, but the pancake tortoises are way out of my price range so was just wondering if any1 has kept any other types with bearded dragons or know of any other types that can live with bearded dragons? Thanks sean

Hi,

I bought my beardie from a pet shop who kept him with a tortoise, they said it was his "mate" and they seemed fine together, not something I would personally do but I know others have done it succesfully.................saying that I'm sure theres also the few who have done it unssucessfully so I suppose the answer is you CAN but with careful monitoring as always and of course it depends wether the beardie and tort get on or just tolerate each other and if its the latter any one of them could turn at any minute

just because its a college doesnt make it right. ive known of plenty of colleges who have kept things wrong especially torts. i dont like mixed species its stressful especially to a solitary animal like a beardie

Not really a good idea as a tortiose could easily remove toes and tail parts and cause all sorts of problems.

Plus the risk of transmitting disease and the differing humidity requirements.

Beardies are known for being quite aggressive to other species, as well.
