Default crestie substrate

i just want to make sure many resources have told me eco earth is fine and i want the plants to live (some fake some real) but some people think eco earth causes compaction but if my crestie feeds on baby foods from a bowl the chances of this should be gone any opinions also i put eco earth in the terrarium about 4 months ago it has not come in contact with dirt or anything i just wanted to get a feel of what its going to look like but shall i change it or will it do because im getting him next week

well first off you shouldn't be feeding baby food *insert rant about baby food being for babies, not geckos* you should be feeding CGD

next up, when you get a crestie you should start off with kitchen roll as a substrate, that way you can monitor their poo and make sure that they are eating

If you wan't to use eco earth after you know they are eating then you can just try to compact the eco earth, or alternatively when feeing livefood, put them in a separate container

I wouldn't worry too much about impaction if you are feeding out of a bowl

Chris

Just saw one of my cresties licking it's feet after being on eco-earth.. Surely it doesn't taste that good?!

I use moss peat mixed with a little bark with moss on top and have it up to level of bar on exo for live planting and then use live cultures of silvers and woodlice to make soil live
