Default Any idea what these jelly type lumps on my leo are the vet has no idea!

I was given this leo a few weeks back, yes I know I'm a sucker for a rescue! he is a happy enough little fellow he just has these strange jelly type lumps which effect all of his joints. They do not seem to cause him pain, he is still incredibly mobile and will happily chace his food around. After 2 failed veterinary visits which included x rays a blood tests to diagnose these lumps I thought I would turn to you, any one got a clue??? I am unsure how old he is and have no idea how long he has had these lumps. The only other problem I would have with him is that he is a poor shedder.

I know its near impossible to tell from a photo but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks xxx

One of the geckos I hatched out with MDB has developed small one's of these. They feel the same as the fat stores usual leos get under their arms...I think that's what they are.
A lot of that looks like pure MBD though...

I queried MBD but the vet thought it was unlikely as he has no softening of the jaw and does not appear to be in pain. Thanks though as that was the only sensible diagnosis I could come up with. x

Has the vet tested for gout? That will often manifest itself as swellings around the joints, although you would expect there to be some pain associated with it.

If that's been ruled out then it may well be the long lasted effects of inadequate supplementation. These symptoms can persist long after the animal has returned to 'normal'.

I would also suspect MBD being the cause of the lumps

I would also suspect MBD - does the X Ray show any bending or thinning of the bone?

yes was specific reptile vet who costs a fortune!!! gout was ruled out all he said about xrays were that joints appeared normal. If we are all thinking MBD here whats my next best course of action? I will look to see if I can find another specialist vet here to get a 2nd opinion. Thanks again guys x

i will go with MBD too.very strange though for the xray not to pick this up.
did the gecko come to you like this.
the reason i ask is i rescued a gecko a while back who after coming from what might be described as unsanitary conditions very quickly showed signs of lumps and bumps just like those on your rescue. she was given optimum conditions from me .my vet explained in the sub optimal conditions (too cold not supplemented ect)she was drawing from her own body and when she got the correct enviroment it just speeded it up and was unstoppable .xrays showed old multiple fractures bless her.she could not be saved.
