Default Hoppers!!!

When they say hoppers, they really mean it don't they!

Been feeding my cresties crickets since I got them, but since lots on here rave about locusts and consider crickets the spawn of Satan, I thought I'd give them a go.

They arrived today, I got a nice ice cream tub to put them in so i can feed them up and make them nice and juicy for the cresties,

OMG, they went everywhere!
The crickets, I just tip the little tub over and into the pot they go,

I've just spent half an hour trying to get the last 5 into the tub.
Everytime I caught them and tried to add them to the others, either the same or a different 5 jumped out, WTF!!!
I still have 5 in a glass with some brocolli coz I daren't try it again!

I want to try them again as I normally put the cresties in a RUB with the crickets to prevent any nibbling risk but will put the hoppers in the tank for some real hunting time, however, I'm quite traumatised by the whole thing!

How do you guys do it, I'm thinking bigger tub and maybe fridge for 20 to slow them down a bit before I move them?

i use a faunarium with a small door in the lid, its about a foot high, i just open half the lid and drop them in, when i put 200 locusts in only a couple jump out, after a while you will end up like a ninja and catch them first time. you can put them in the fridge, it makes them abit slower reloading there legs for the next jump

Thanks for replying,

I think a taller box is the way to go, I've got them in a very shallow tub which is probably why I had so much trouble!

or you need a cat to catch the escapees for you lol

when 1 of our adults gets out the cat catches it and when we tell her off she drops it soggy and dazed on the floor, just long enough we can grab it lol

My cats are a bit dopey,

They'd probably just sit there while it jumped all over them!
