Default Uromastyx

I am beginning to get interested in keeping lizards. I like the Uromastyx species of lizard partly because they are veggies and also they are tubby. Can anyone suggest one for a novice?

I'm under the impression that they aren't 100% veggie, they're supposed to have the odd bug here and there.

Just thought i'd point it out incase that would alter your decision to have one or not

this is sammy, our uro,

you can see the kink in his back, he may not grow fully due to this but hes healthy, happy and still a nutter!

OH MY GOD WHAT HAPPNED TO HIS HEAD?
JK.

We have a single Uromastyx [African spiny tail]
I think you will be fine with ANY Uromastyx that you can easily [or even somewhat easily] come across...
As long as your not compleyely unable to understand the basics of rep care like some people who join these forums after they have bought/been given/found a bearded dragon/lep/iguana lol

Hi
uro's do turn veggie when they are older but babies do req meal worms and crickets. They aren't the easiest to keep so make sure you do your homework.
Terry Thatcher advised me one of the hardiest is the Acanthinurus, make sure you get a cb one though, they are very hard to find, i think Northampton Reptile centre still have some (where i got mine),
Have you seen Chuckwallas they have the same diet etc as a uro look like real little dinosaurs (got one today) found him at snakes n adders at Leeds.
Good luck in finding what you want make sure you let us know what you get

Thank you all for your advice. I will do more research but I really like the Uros. I will certainly let you know what I eventually get.
