Default Tokay lost his stickyness

A few days ago I noticed that my tokay was having a few issues with climbing. But the next night I saw him stuck pretty much up to top of the front so thought he was ok. But have noticed he has had problems climbing up, once he is up he seems to be fine but as he moves about he tends to slide about a little. Now I have convinced myself he is coming into shed, he just has that look about him that looks like he should shed soon. The picture doesn’t show it amazingly well but:

His toe pads are discoloured, almost like they are just very dirty. You can see in the pictures that parts of his toe pads look white (and I mean if you look close there are one or two parts that looks clean).

So today me and ReptileLady gave him a bath (thanks for that), thinking that maybe he just needed some warm water to loosen up whatever is on his feet, but with no success. After we handled him for a bit, and he made no real attempt to stick, but when he had a foot hanging loose if you brush your finger over it there is some grip there.

Just wondered if anyone might be able to either put my mind at ease and he is going into shed, or if there’s something else up with him. Here are some pictures of his toe pads:

And then as a comparison to what they are normally like:

Sorry for the long post, thanks for reading and I hope you are able to help.

I really do hope so, as I am starting to have sleepless nights over this.

Not too sure, I would have thought bath and then rub. Might be worth having something rough, like some cork bark in their viv. But ginnerone will give you an answer when hes on next I would imagine

What heating device do you use? Is he capable of getting to it? I don't know much about tokays but just based on everything else, those feet kind of look burned.

This is a porribility IF there is an eposed and unstated heat mat or un guarded basking bulb but to be honest they aren't stupid and wouldn't go near a bulb anyway unless startled.
The feet look normal to me, as they come into shed you'll notice a discolouration anyway but they look fine and theres no sign of injury to the pads, although, i would be slightly worried about the second to last pic ( think its that one ) as it looks like he's got mites which would affect him, not saying they are without a better look but looking at the size, colour and where the dots are positioned it exactly what mites do.
All i can suggest is
A) through clean of the viv
B) make sure the stat for any internal heating is working
C) check the temps are correct
D) check they are not mites

@Arnie, best thing you can do wiothout damaging the feet is to keep the viv at as higher humidity as possible and fill it with very rough surfaces, i would suggest cleaning and sterilising some big ol rocks, and lots of em, place them everywhere in the viv, this should be rough enough to gradually take off the stuck shed, i try to keep rough climbing stuff in the viv at all times including bits of slate, cork bark etc.

hope this help.

He is heated by a lamp from ontop of the mesh, which is stated and produces 90f about 6 inches from the bulb.

If it is the picture of the body that looks like he might have mites, I think that is just left over soil from when I got him out. But I shall double check today.

Thanks for the help.

no probs, temps are goos and if its out side the viv and above the mesh the cances of it being burns are very slim.

Yeah, so hopfully that just means he needs to get on and shed. He managed to climb the background earlier and is wedged in the corner under his plant so figure while hes there I wont disturb him until he shows his face again.

Ok I shall do, I might have a quick check for mites later when hes active. But other than that I will leave him be. And as usual cheers for the help.
