Any wild mice you catch will not adapt well, they're nervous and prone to injuring themselves while trying to escape.
Where are you located, and what exactly did you want the mice for?

he said in the laste part of his sentence "to rid them of any bugs"

You can put raid or another bug killing product at the bottom on the table legs, just make sure it's eattable and not sprayable.

Make sure no other lizard or pet goes near it neither.

I thought he meant how to rid wild mice of bugs, but didn't mention why he wanted them?
If it's to feed to lizards - then bug killing product on the mice is a bad idea!

You are totally talking about something I'm not!
Instead of mice, use the eatable insect/bug killer at the bottom of the table, no where near the reach of the lizard.
My solution involves no mice.
If he still got some the bug killer would kill the mouse and of course you don't feed it to the lizard.

But the thread and title says he wants to buy or catch live mice - not get rid of them!

Why on earth would he use mice to catch bugs?

the reference to "bugs" would be any internal/external nasties that wild mice will be carrying rather than insects.

I think you've managed to grasp the totally wrong stick!

He wants live mice for something, either for food or to breed for food..nothing to do with insects at all.
