Default Does anyone know about panacur dosages???

Just wondered about the usual dosage given to bd's for treatment of parasites. Does it depend on size, weight etc?
What dosage has yours been given?
Not planning on self dosing cos you have to get it from a vet anyway it's just out of interest (ok then curiosity..........killed the cat )

usually 50-100mg/kg - high end for one off doses or intermittent usage ie quite often do tortoises at 100mg/kg once fortnightly. low end if doing daily - which can be 3-7 days or longer even some time

sorry work called (clients, huh? so demanding!)

Depends on the formulation - panacur comes in granules, paste, even tablets, but usually use suspension for the reptiles. Suspension can be 10% - that is 100mg/ml, or 2.5%, ie 25mg/ml. Maths is easier for 10% so for 125g or 0.125kg beardie would be 0.0625ml (or more practically 0.06ml) to 0.125ml per dose, and 400g beardie 0.2 to 0.4ml per dose. In other words, not a lot. Price is generally cheap as well - obviously varies place to place, but consider that is usually sold in 100ml bottles!

Confused? I am!

Confused??????? Me????????? Nah!!!! Course not!!!

Thanks anyway

So I'm assuming 0.02ml of 10% would be given to a 125g beardie.........I think

bit more - around 0.1ml! I personally tend to err on the side of more rather than less, as there tends to be an element of spitting, and the drug is gen considered to be very safe

Sorry should probably clarify that - spitting as in reptile spitting out meds rather than anything else!
