The only way to tell if the ventilation is ok is to monitor the ambient temperatures for a couple of days - if they are ok, then the ventilation is ok (for now - remember it will get warmer in the summer).

If you're trying to sort out basking temperatures, it would be worth putting the rock/branch you will be using underneath the basking light. A rock will be at least 3-4" high, which can add 10f+ to the surface due to there being less distance between the bulb and the surface.

I would also cover up 3 of the sides before you put him in. This will make him feel more secure and less exposed, and should stop him scratching/nose-rubbing at the glass to get out all the time!

wrong way round Nebski.. Calci-sand = lizard lard and play sand = safer but not 100% safe.

Same as what HadesDragon said.. needs a few things to climb on but when you put a rock or branch under the light he'll probably burn his head on the bulb.

No drragon going in as of yet, buying climbing and tank decoration IE fake cactus plant and more climbing apartus in a few days, for now measuring temperatures.

And I was offered calci sand but opted for play sand

Calci sand is a no no it encourages them to lick the sand ( it did with my beardies anyway when i first got in to keeping them took them straight off it ) , if sand is to be used childs play sand or bird sand , most people go for a tiled slate look , or newspaper/ kitchen roll

i've looked but i can't see it.. where's your probe?

what are you using on the other end of the viv, substrate wise? you're probably best putting the substrate down on that side and putting the probe on it so you get a proper reading on temps and that the thermostat is getting the right temp in the cool end.
The substrate will also heat up and may cause a change in temp when its all set up.
