Default Crested poo

I'm currently preparing for a crested gecko. From all my research on them, the only downside I can see is that they will poo anywhere so are harder to clean.
How messy are they really? Will I be up to my armpits in smelly stuff?
Is the poo all runny n nasty or nice little easy to clean up lumps?

I'm planning on using a peat type substrate so with that you can just turn it over often and it absorbs all the nasties yeah?

Sorry if you are about to have dinner!!

they're not that bad. ours poo down the side of the glass as this is where they spend much of their time. its not too smelly either. ours are treated like babies though and are spoon fed their cgd and baby food mix and have developed a nasty habit of pooing on us all the time!

Hey, the main issue is that they poo on the walls of their viv, and if you are using a heat mat can get baked on. Its not hard to clean off, just need elbow grease. My main problem is that i am misting them with hard water which means i get a limescale build up which is REALLY tough to get off. I use lemon juice to clean the glass, its a natural cleaner and it does help with the limescale. As for the peat, some people have great success with bioactive substrate, but i tried mine with it and after watching them almost choke a few times when catching their dinner (they are very clumsy eaters) i replaced it with paper towel. It can also be a problem if you have eggs and want to incubate them outside the viv.

Can you get reptile nappies?

I'm gonna use a feeding bowl for the fruit etc, and if I do use live food I might just feed it in a little plastic tank I will use for the big clean outs.

This is true if you have a live viv eg. plants are planted in the soil not in their own pots. This means the substrate will be bioactive and you can churn the soil up so that the plant will break down all the waste. However if you don't have plants in the soil you should remove the waste from the top when you see it and replace the substrate occasionally, maybe every 4/5 months. They don't produce much so it's pretty simple.

Mine tend to just do it down the glass which is simple enough to wipe of, the rest just goes into th substrate. If you've ever smelt a Beardie poop, then a crestie poop aint even gona register lol
