The exotic shop sold my beardie :(

I brought the viv etc from a shop recommended to me and reserved my beardie that day as I fell in love with him. I paid the full amount and he said they would keep him for a few days until I had the viv ready - even though he told me I could put him in straight away I wanted to do everything right. My husband rang on Tues and they said my beardie was fine etc etc. I went yesterday to get him after buying lots of greens etc and....they had sold him!!!!!!!!!!! I was so upset and tbh they didnt seem that bothered.

I went else where and didnt expect to find another one I liked as much but a beardie picked me and has settled well..I love him so much already and his name is Haku. I will post pics soon!!

Thats awful.. I am sorry that you did not get your original beardie but, glad another one found you.. I would write a letter of complaint to them and to trading standards.

Personally I'd have kicked off at that. There position might be understandable if you hadn't paid anything, even a deposit, but the fact you paid in full?

My local place does allow you to pay then pick up later, but all the staff know which stock is already sold.

lol I'd love to name and shame but not sure it's allowed! I did kick off as I did pay in full and made it clear when I was going to come and pick him up. The owner isnt very old and just kinda said 'I was away and told him not to sell him but they did'. My husband had a real go over the phone. They did give me a refund but said Id have to pay if they got a BD sent from the wholesaler!!!!!!!!! What a cheek! Needless to say - I wont be going back there.

Haku is named after the boy that is a dragon from Spirited Away.

I am glad I wasnt just over-reacting at them selling my original BD. They also board animals too - we wont be taking Haku there incase they sell him to someone else when he is only on holiday!

It was a bad first experience to reptile keeping, after I tried to do everything by the book but Haku has already made it all worth while!
