Hi Niel/Donna , in answer to feeding yes i would dust his food twice weekly with a vit/calcium supplement and the reason why there called Bosc monitors is after the French scientist "Lois Bosc" who first described the species back in 1792!

Hi there , in answer to your questions whitethroat monitors and blackthroat monitors can reach 6ft , you would need an enclosure of around 8ft x 6ft minimum to house an adult or larger if you have the space , as for feeding my 4ft female whitethroat she has 8 x chicks twice a week and 2 x adult rats twice a week as an example , temperament wise she hisses and tail whips still but has never bitten my black throats are very similar temperament wise (although 2 of mine are still babies so i can "work" with them to get them used to handling) good luck in your choice and any advise i am able to help you with just leave a visitors message
