Default Retained eyecaps

Hey all. I have a baby Royal which is around 3 months old. only had him 2 weeks.
In the first week i had him he shed. He had a patch of skin left on his nose which i soaked and removed. But im not sure if his eye caps have come off?
What does it look like if his eye caps are still on?
(wasnt able to check his shed skin as he took a giant dump on top of it)

Advice would be apreciated. Thanks

From what I've heard you can leave them 'til their next shed as they usually come off then. If it's just a baby it should be growing pretty quickly and will shed regularly. If you're not sure whether it is eye caps or not I'd be tempted to leave him 'til next time.

If the eyes look pronounced and glossy chances are they have come off. If they look slightly dull, they look flat or you can see almost an edge to the eye they are possibly still on. You can provide him with a moist hide, and keep a close eye on him till the next shed. Make sure you check the shed next time to ensure they come off, get rubber gloves on if you have to.

I know what you mean about not being sure that they have come off, my royal when I got her had multiple retained eyecaps, which being inexperienced at the time I didn't recognise. This resulted in her getting an eye infection and multiple visits to the vets, her first shed with me had thick black eyecaps on it there were so many.

good luck
