I have a 3 month old royal and was told she had 2 stay in a rub inside the viv 4 about 12 months....... This seems a long time and was wondering if this is correct advise or is it a little too long ? Any advise through experience would be very much appreciated.
My corns went into their viv straight away and are very happy.
My main concern is not to stress the royal.

Generally in snakes, length and width of tub/viv = length of snake at the minimum, but royals are a bit different. How big is the tub and how big is the royal?

My tub is 14"x8" and my snake is about 16"

i would have thought that your royal would be fine in there for a while. how does your royal explore around its tub?

She explores her tub quite actively at night, eating well so no complaints there. I just thought 12 months was a long time for her to be kept in a small tub, as i was advised from the pet shop.

Theres no 'set' time, it really depends on the snake, how active, size, h ow well its eating even!

royals are from undergorund in the wild and like enclosed spaces, I have 3 1 year old royals in 50 litre really useful boxes (rubs) and theyve got loads of space, with royals its best to have too little space than too much or they can start having feeding problems if they feel overwhelmed in their open space.
My 5 month old girl is a bit small for her age as I took her on as a non feeder and she lives in a 16 litre rub from matalan for £3 thats perfect size for her!
