hiya, there are sooo many different species, only you can decide what is right for you.
Think about things like, do you want a snake or lizard?
Do you want a reptile which is active during the daytime or nocturnal?
Are you happy about keeping frozen mice or rats in your freezer?
Would you be happy keeping crickets/locusts/mealworms etc in the house?
How much space do you have available?
Look through loads of posts and pics here, and then if you see something you like the look of, research its requirements and see if you think you would be able to provide what it needs.
Good luck
P.s was going to say that heat rocks are not recommended for many species as they have given quite serious burns. I would look for another heat source if I was you.

oooooh what a question & what fun you're going to have deciding what to start with.

i think the first reply pretty much covered everything. the first thing you need to decide is what you want out of your new pet. does it matter if it's a display animal only or would you want to handle it? tokays for instance (i'm getting a pair) look fantastic imo but can't be handled as they're very aggresive. most snakes on the other hand can be handled.

and space could be a limiter as well. let us know what space you have & whether you want to be to handle or not & we'll give you a few ideas.

I have never kept Anoles, but from what I remember reading, they are not very handleable, although gorgeous to lok at

Beardies are great, but they will eventually need a minimum of a 4x2x2 (foot) vivarium.

Not sure what else you can keep in a 1x1 exoterra, sorry.

Wink

The tank is too small for Anoles. They don't really like being handled and need lots of space to climb.

You maybe better getting a young Crested Gecko or some Stenos.
