Default gargolye geckos

me and my girlfriend have had our gargoyles for about 2 weeks now, were a little unsure about the colour changes they go through? is it as simple as being hot and cold? any advice welcome,

I believe they change the same as cresties, and they change colour at night its referred to as being 'fired up'
