Default Newbie sling info please!!

Hi guys, just a quick question, i've just got a bunch of slings which i've housed in cleaned out livefood tubs which seemed perfect if maybe a little large but all of the slings so far are eating great. Just wandered if they need a heatmat cos at the mo i have about an inch of each tub overlapping one which creates loads of condensation on each lid and i was thinking of just leaving them at room temperature. My heatings on every 2 hours for 2 hours so its nice and toasty when i'm not hanging out the window with a tab. Would they be ok? I could do a bit of rearranging and have them in a smaller and warmer room. Also my red island birdeater is at 2cm now and seems a tad large for pinheads so should i move him up to small crickets. Stepping into new territory with slings and i want the best for the little critters. Plus i have a bunch more different birdeaters coming over the weekend mostly at 2cm. Cheers for the help guys.

Chris

ummm...need a lot more info... by "slings" do you mean spiderlings or scorplings?? and what species??
if they need heat then a red bulb would be better and probably cheaper (as heat mats cost loads), and if you put the heat mat underneath and they try to burrow away from the heat and are actually burrowing towards it you will end up with roasted slings, and i doubt you can find a heat mat that will go on the side of cricket boxes.

spiderlings. 2x 1cm white knee birdeaters, 1x 2cm red island birdeater, 1x 1cm curly hair, 1x 1cm fire leg, 1x 3cm chile rose and 1x 2cm chaco golden knee so far. All up and about, exploring, eating pinhead crix every few days n bravely standing their ground when i check on em. Unfortunatly 1 giant white knee died on route in the post.

What temp is your room usually and does it get cold at night?
I have several diff species of spider inc the fire leg and rosea.
Our front room is kept at an ambient temp of around 25 degrees c and at night doesnt drop lower than 22 and they have no need for heat mats.

Cheers, the heating comes on every 2 hours for 2 hours 24/7 so its around 25 degrees all day and doesn't drop much at night. And i ment to write 3cm chile flame, my rose is as big as me hand! Wot about crix size for the 3cm flame and birdeaters? Should i move them up a size? Ordered some small crix anyway for the flame so i'm gonna see if the red island takes em. Thanks again
