Default Leopard Gecko

Hi

I have purchased a Exo Terra Vivarium for the kids Leopard Geckos.
We have a heat mat obviously however the vivarium is not heating up.
Do I place the heat mat in the inside or outside of the tank on the side or the bottom. I cannot find any information anywhere.

Can anyone please give me any advice

Vicky

No worries
How are you monitoring the temperature? what type of thermometer?
and what is the thermostat temps set to? also where have you placed the probe for the stat?

Hi

I have one of those stick to the side of the tank thermometer and the probe is coming down the back wall opposite the mat.

I have the mat set quite high to try and get the temperature up. It was originally set at 28 but I really am getting nowhere with heating this tank up at all

Ok, I really would advise getting a digital thermometer as they give you a very reliable temp readout... where as a dial or tank thermo really are alot of pants to be honest... you need to know what the temp is just above -one inch above the substrate as this is where your leos are... put the probe to the thermostat at this same point on the hot side of the viv above the mat or you will potentially overheat and kill your geckos...
and please turn the thermostat back down as if you havent a reliable reading of the temerature then the heatmat can reach well over 100 degrees!! If i was you id go buy a digital thermometer hun
