they need to be housed in the same enclosure, i have a medium sized fish tank at the minute but would be willing to purchase a larger tank if required. this is because i need to collect data on the behaviour of the animals in a group and also during courtship

Something like anoles may work, although you'd need a larger cage for 10 of them. They are pretty small, easy to care for, and people do keep them in groups. I'm not sure how well males live together though, so you'd need to look into that a bit more; there should be threads on here if you use the "search" function. You'd possibly need a 1.9 group though (I don't know how well that'd fit in with your project plans??), or to house them as several smaller groups. |

Lizard-wise I think the only thing that would be small enough to house 10 or so in a tank that size would be anoles. Personally I'd go looking for something interesting insect wise that can live in a colony. Locust or Roaches go through several sexual cycles that would be easily documented and they aren't much of a problem to get breeding in the right conditions (I've never had much luck breeding locust myself but I know others that think it's easy!)

you couldnt fit a beardie in a 40ltr anyway. they need a 55 gallon minimum (and realistically a vivarium rather then a fish tank) does it have to be a reptile have u cosidered a small amphibian species like fire belly toads or fire belly newts or maybe some crabs.
most other species even small species either shouldnt be house together (or should house males together or need way more room. |
