Smile Hi There!

Hi, I'm a new member and just wanted to introduce myself.

I'm Sarah, from Leeds in Yorkshire. My partner Adam and I currently only have a leopard gecko (named Gex after the computer game) although we have previously had a bearded dragon (had to leave with Adam's mum when we moved to a smaller house) and Adam had a chinese water dragon that sadly died of mouth rot.

I joined the forum because we are looking into getting a crested gecko within the next year (we tend to plan ahead!) and I was looking for some information, and maybe some experiences from crestie owners. Would this lizard make a good pet for someone with our experience? Is there anything we should know? I'm done a lot of research in books and on google, but nothing beats first hand experiences!

Thanks.

Firstly, Welcome to RFUK.

Cresties make great beginner pets, they're fun to watch and generally very lively. Although from experience they don't tend to like to be handled much - I don't know if this would be a problem for you? I know many people love to handle their animals.

If you check out the Care sheet section of the forums, there's a lot of good care sheets which give you the "do's and dont's"

Also, I'm sure there's some stories which would benefit you on the Lizard section.

If you fail to find anything, don't be afraid to ask - That's what the forum is for.

Edit: Oh, and I'm not saying they're totally incapable of being picked up, because many of them do tolerate it and like to go exploring, I'm just saying a select few don't appreciate it.

Second edit: Here's a Caresheet you might wanna have a read through.

Best of luck!

Heyaa Sarah, cresties make good beginner lizards.

The formulated diets such as Repashy CGD makes it so you dont ever have to feed live bugs.

Cresties are from my understanding a good starter, however another Leo may be a good option
