Question Prospective Bearded Dragon Owner

Hi all, nice place you have here

I have just signed up to this forum, but have been lurking around for a good while longer.

I'm in the process of getting a shopping list together of all the bits I'll need to house a young bearded dragon happily and healthily.

I think I know I need the following

Vivarium and stand - I'll probably go with a 3" one as listed on ebay (VIVEXOTIC VX36 36")
Heat lamp (don't know what size)
UV Lamp (again what size / whatt)
Thermostat / Timer switch (do i need both?)
thermometer
basking rock
bowls - food and water
climbing stick
substrate - prob be newspaper to start
Food - small crickets?

Does that about cover it?

What are the reputable brands and resellers? I'll be trying to pull all this together cheaply, but not cut corners

If I have missed anything please let me know

Thanks in adavance

Andy

Wish I could tell you about the lights but my boyfriend covers all the electric side of things! hehe...but your list is looking pretty good.

Make sure if you get the 3ft viv it is 3ft by 2ft this will house an adult beardie for life!

Good luck!

Thanks,

I emailed Aquacadabra (the ebay sellers of the tank), about a starter pack for dragons, and he quoted me £85 for the following
Quote:
light unit and uvb light tube
spot lamp and holder
heat mat and stat
thermometer
substrate

that sound about right?

We do not use a heat mat, but have our ceramic heater on a stat. Beardies prefer / require their heat from above.
