Smile Noob and Beardie

Hullo!
At the risk of sounding cliche - i am a newbie and need help

I was told to leave the lamp on all the time (lamp in the far right hand corner-basking light)

Is this right? I even leave it on with the uv lamp during the day

I have had him for 4 days now - i have petted him on his back and head but im quite worried if i hold him i am going to make him scared of me (god - i sound so silly)
He runs away if i try.

Help

yes you leave both your lights on is your basking light on a dimming thermostat, sometimes takes up to fortnight for them to settle just leave your hand in the viv for 5-10 mins a day until he gets used to you

Turn all the lights off on a night or you will confuse him. He needs to have a night and day cycle. At the mo my heat and uv are on around 10 hours a day. Soon when it gets warmer this will be extended to 12 hours a day. x

How can you be mirroring daylight hours but leave the light on

Turn it off at night, your beardie is probably knackered!

If your viv drops below 65f at night, you'll need to get a ceramic heater on a mat stat or stick a heat mat on a stat on the hot side wall (not on the floor as beardies take heat from above) and set them to 70f.

They dont need heat mat as they absorb heat from above not below. The only reason you would need a heat mat is maybe for a very cold night if you house got colder then 15c. We feed our beardies as much as they can eat around 3 times a day x

As for light and heat. Turn both uv and heat lamp on at same time in morning. What i do is turn them both on around 9am. Then when its evening i turn the uv off around 8 and then heat lamp off around 9. Normally they will go to bed themselves.
