Hi,
I originally came here as I was hoping to be able to keep a Tortoise, however it turns out that I haven't go the right facilities that a Tortoise would need, therefor I have no desire to keep one in facilities that are not suitable for it. Reptiles are something that I've always wanted to keep, and still do as I find them both facinating, however I only want to keep a reptile of any sort if I can provide the right environment and care that one will need. Here's my criteria. I have a space that is available, which is indoors - it is around 3ft x 2.5ft where I will be able to keep a vivarium. I would so love a Bearded Dragon, however i've seen how big they can get and doubt that I have the right space for one therefor I'm currently seeking for a reptile that I will be able to give the care and home that it needs. Any suggestions would be most helpful! Chameleons? |

IMO.... Chameleons are not a good one to start with.....
First you need to decide if you want legs on your reptile or not.... There are a lot of lizards that would go in that space, and are easy enough to provide for.... Same for snakes....... Why not start your search around pet shops so you can see and handle a few different ones, then come back here and get a consensus of opinions on things that floated your boat..... |

Hi :o)
Snakes - oh I wish, but they're definetley out due to mum not being able to stay under the same roof as one. (I wonder how much convincing it would take) - geeze I've only just managed to convince her to allow me to have a reptile. It is encouraging that there are quite a few option for reptiles with legs in that space. Going to have a scout around now that I know that the space is good a number of lizards - although I really do like the lep gekkos. (some sort of Gekko would be fantastic or other relatively small lizard). |

If you're interested in Geckos most people would recommend Leopard Geckos. Really easy to look after and happy little characters. Alternitavely theres always African Fat Tailed Geckos. I started with one of these and they're equally easy to care for. Good luck with you're new family member, keep us posted on how it goes!

leopard geckos are nice, could have a few in a viv that size. dunno about an amaga, not sure of their size but i think they are a tad bit smaller than a beardie. also i think kings monitors are not too big aswell. just my opinion and i could be wrong im not 100% on them.
