Default starting a thread tutorial

hi

here is a quick guide of how to start a thread for all you newcomers to forums,

most of the basics have already been covered over time and can be found by using the search engine at the top of the page, but sometimes you just need to ask your own question / query in your own way

first of all you will need to decide what your question relates to and go to the right section,

(no point asking the lizard / spider / tortoise keepers a snake husbandry question or vice versa)

so for example (snake query)

on the home page you simply click on the title "snakes" and this will direct you to the snake section of the forum

once your in that section you will need to click on the "new post" button

the following screen should now appear

give your thread a title relating to your query

then in the larger box below type out your question

once your happy with everything you can do a quick spell check (nobody really likes text talk on the forum and has trouble understanding it)

spell check can be found here

if you would like to add pictures to your thread please follow this link

http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/newbi...otobucket.html

it will only take a few minutes to open a photobucket account and its free!!! and we all use it here,

now you have two options, submit your new thread or preview it, if you preview it then leave the page your thread will not be submitted, so make sure after your preview you click submit.

after you have clicked submit, your thread will appear at the top of the desired section for everyone to see, reply with silly comments, make stupid comments, but most of all answer your question as best they can, some better than others.

after you started your first thread

you will notice that nothing has changed or there has been no replies until you click refresh or F5, people may choose to look at your thread but not reply,

as other threads are ongoing your thread will drop further down the page, if somebody replies to your thread it will jump back up to the top of the list. if nobody replies you can jump your thread back to the top by replying on your own thread yourself, this is called (bump or bumping)

simply open your thread back up and click

then type Bump in the text area

click submit

your thread will now appear at the top of the list again for others to notice

to return to the main homepage again click the forums logo in the top left hand corner

Should probably make it a sticky in the newbie section as this gets asked quite a bit.
