I dont keep beardies but i have a gecko. I use lino as it's easy to clean and they can't swallow it when eating which can lead to impactions. I've heard of people using kitchen tiles too.

Sand is bad for baby beadies as it can lead to impactation and in bad cases death. Young beardies will happily live on paper, news paper or tissue paper and bark can be rough on skin. If you are to use wood chips of any sort do not ever use pine or pine based materials. A mixture of different substrates can also work well as some hold heat/moisture differently and can create a varied viv, as long as the beardie has enough room to move, things to bask on and are getting at least the min husbandry requirements they will be happy.
