Hot stone?

Hi to you all and your cold blooded friends

I was looking for night time heater for my viv (I have a 5-month old ackie) now that the nights are getting colder. people on this board have recommended ceramic lamps with thermostat. However, when I went to my local petshop, they recommended a hot stone as a cheaper, safer alternative. The hot stone apparently heats to 90 F, and the lizard can stay inside, outside, underneath, and the whole viv gets warmer. Any thoughts? Has anybody used one of these?

sorry just everyone says they are rubbish! they get thermal hot spots that WILL burn your lizard. you are far better off with a heat mat and a thermostat which you should have already

hot rocks, heat rocks, heat stones they are all dangerous no matter what the pet store says, they dont car and just want profit. they are dangerous and you will regret buying one

As said hun, hot rocks, hot tree stumps, hot stones ect are all dangerous to your dragon I have a box full of em from when a first started out and get sold the planet, dont know what to do with them now they just gathering dust.

Please dont use hun for the safety of your little one.

If you just bought it take it back.

yeah don't use those hot-rocks a proper waste of yer money.. ceramic/heat mat is the way to go, (species dependent)
