I use kitchen roll, I prefer to be safe, the Breeder I bought from also uses paper for his Babies.

I use play sand for my Beardie and wouldnt use anything else. He is now a couple of months short of 4 years old and I had him at 8 weeks old.

You will always get other opinions on what you should and shouldnt do or use. Its worked for me but mine has also lived in a 4x2x2 viv since I had him which is another thing people would have opinions on.

thnx for the imput guys, there seems to be so many diffrent opinions on the correct way to do things,i really enjoy reading the diffrent threads the uv light one is the other big headache one lol
so the playsand is ok to use then there is no real danger from impaction?

As a baby I would go for paper or lino. You can change to play sand once they hit juvi/sub adult.
