Hi, totally new to lizards and this forum. I am looking to get a couple of baby beardies once I have done all the research.
Can you advise if it is ok to keep two baby beardies together in a viv and the recomended size. Also how long until they need their own viv if they do.
I will be on with more questions I am sure.
cheers

Hi and welcome Ryker5. Beardies are great lizards - good choice. By the time they are about 6 - 8 months they will need a full sized 4 x 2 x 2ft viv - each probably. I say this because when you buy babies there is no way to determine their sex. So if you buy 2 (Personally I think one is better) you would have to split them at this age because: if you have 2 males they WILL fight - often to the death or at least serious injury. If you have a male and female then they will try to breed any time after 8 months but the female will be much too immature to cope with eggs. If you have 2 females they MAY get along ok - but they are solitary animals by nature and teritorial - so you may still get fights or domination issues. So certainly buy two but only if you have room for 2 vivariums. Good luck!
Welcome Ryker5 to the world of herpetology life will never be the same again. Beardies are great 1st lizard as youngsters they can be difficult to sex.
We keep our females together in a colony while the males are kept separate where they cannot see any other beardies.
