help! mini meal worms - what does gutloaded mean? also how long do they keep healthy for???

as long as you feed them they'll stay healthy and gutload means feed it so give it veg.

u can give them fresh veg/ fruit to gut load them , i perosnaly use apple, carrot and oats. just make sure u change the veg b4 it goes mouldy

so i can leave a whole carrott/apple in the box?
how long should i keep the meal worms for?

cut it up so the mealies can get the moist from the fruit and veg, ive had mine 2 weeks and there still going good, you may get some turn into "alien" mealworms , you can either move them to a seperate tub (to turn into beetles) or throw them away.

heres a thread someone showed me, about how he keeps his mealworms to breed, you will only have to use a smaller tub unless you have loads (hope this helps)

If you want them to stay as mini-mealies then put half of them in the fridge. The fridge will stop them growing and eating for a while. The other half keep gut loading with diced up veg / fruit (you don't want too much in there - don't let them get damp), fish food flakes, bug grub. These are the ones you will use. When starting to run short of these then get the others out of the fridge to start gut-loading and feeding off. Hope this makes sense.
