Default New to bearded dragons

I have a 2ft by 2ft vivarium, is this too small for bearded dragons. Am looking at getting 2 babies, preferably female. Am looking to keep in this for a few months then get a bigger viv. Can anyone advise if this size is ok, and what lighting/heating would need.

Hi, welcome to the forum. Sorry but a 2 x 2ft viv is way to small for even one beardie. 4x 2ft is minimum. The problem with getting 2 babies would be that there is no way to accurately sex them until they are bigger. You could end up with 2 males which would need a 4 x 2ft viv each.

yeh as the person has said above getting two babies and putting them together is a bab idea as they could end up being males and fight till the death when older. I always think it is better just to have one beardie per viv! They will not get lonley they are solitary animals in the wild.

Also about the size of viv u r talking about 2ft by 2ft, you could use that for one baby but as u said only for a few months as they grow very quickly and that will soon be to small.

In my experience it is ok to house several beardies in 1 viv. I have Billy and Bella who have been together since hatchlings, and Bobby Willow and Ruby who are all together in a 5ftx3ft viv, and were introduced as adults, and both sets are extremely happy and content. I recently tried seperating Bob from the girls, but they fretted terribly, especially Bobby and Ruby who refused to eat for several weeks... As long as your willing to seperate them if they turn out to be 2 males, then i personally dont see a problem getting the 2 babies that you want.... I am speaking from experience and not trying to undermine anyone else on this forum, just thought you may appreciate my input, as im a successful breeder and I currently have 5 adults and 6 10 wks old babies, who eat anything that moves and all the best fruit and veg and are thriving in thier environment so i must be doin somethin right eh!!! Anyway hunny good luck in whatever you decide Honey

Hi
thanks for you advice! The only thing I'm worried about is getting the change in temp in a smaller viv. Will try it out first before we introduce any dragons and see if it's ok. If any doubts will go for a bigger set up. I have a friend who has two dragons together and they seem to be ok. Just gathering as much advice as I can before I start
