What is the best food to give locusts? I've gutloaded crickets and mealworms with the usual grated veg & fruit., also fish flakes, cerial, dandelion leaves etc. Do locusts eat the same?
Also what enviroment keeps them well, the cricket keeper was first class for crix, what is good for locusts i.e. light or dark - hot or warm. Thanks |

Heat, low humidty and fresh food is all a locust wants
![]() I keep mine in faunariums on heatmats at 95*f floor temperature and feed them fresh spring greens daily, they feed, grow and moult without any problems. They need lots of perches for moulting, up to 3rd instar you can use egg carton strips, after that you will need to be looking at higher perches; mesh netting zip tied in loops and hanging from the roof of the faunarium will work pretty well.
