Default Pretty much new to snakes.

Abit of background; I'm going to be moving to the UK sometime this year with my girlfriend, i'm currently living in Cyprus and have been refraining from expanding my reptiles knowing i'm moving. Plus the fact that the reptile scene over here is terrible &consists of mostly iguanas being sold to clueless owners, by clueless pet shop owners. The state of shops over here is pretty discusting to be generous, iv'e seen adult beardies looking pretty lifeless, being fed on a diet of only daily lettuce and pinkys once a week.

Anyways, before i get into a wall of text expressing how much i hate this country, iv'e been planning to get my first snake for quite a while now but haven't done so because of the move, so as soon as i'm moved and settled i will be getting one. New to snakes but definately not new to reptiles and iv'e handled more than my fair share of snakes.

Looking for advice on what to get as a *first snake* realy, most people would reccomend corns, but bear in mind, i'm not a complete beginner :P i'm considering a raising a royal from young,From extended reaserch I assume they have a very decent temprement? Bear in mind i have been bitten several times by boas and the likes, so i'm not worried about getting bitten, so anything that will take abit more work isn't a problem.

Anyone could share your first hand experience from your first snakes? Or just general hints &tips of what to expect? (:

I'm basically considering between a royal, a corn or prehaps a green tree python (not a good begginner snake?)

edit; may aswell stick in here too, i'm moving to hull area, so if anyone is or knows good breeders nearby let me know also going to be looking to get uros, argentine tegus, and maybe a fire skink and some dwarf monitors too

hey.
Good luck with the move. Ye green tree python is definatley not a snake for the beginner as anything other than perfect conditions is not good enough and this snake is very delicate, handling can cause 'kinks' in the spineso wud stay clear of those until you get into it more.

Personally I dont like corns but are a good place to start as are royals but with royals i wud ensure u buy a well established one at least a year old as they are infamous picky eaters. There are many snake you could for tho, king snake (the mexican black is stunning and very easy to care for0, the western hognose are amazing little snakes full of character although are mild venemous but are no way near deadly but you can read up alot on hognose venom etc. Loads of pythons, childrens python, spotted python, and boas like rosy boas, sand boas and commons are also easy to care for but can get quite large.

good luck wiv it mate

Thanks for the advice, I'd definitely have a royal over a corn snake i think, might go have a look in'to the kings and hognose snakes now too. not too keen on boa's though i have to say.

Also @your signature, united are in manchester? never knew oh well, they'll be in manchester, eastlands tomorrow, should be a amazing game :P
