Default heat mats for stenodactylus petrii???

do i need a heat mat for a S.Petrii? or is it better to use a heat lamp ?

You can use either. I currently use a mat but if you do chose to use a mat you have to keep the area of sand above the mat and no more than a cm or so deep.

can you use both because i already have a heat mat and a 50W and a 100W bulb? if i use just a lamp would it just go in one spot like a basking spot ?

No, use one or the other not both, there is no need to use two. They are fine at normal house night temperatures so there are no problems with switching the bulb off at night, plus sand seems to be pretty good at retaining heat! If you use a lamp it should go at one end of the vivarium so you have a hot and cool end. You'll also need a thermostat for either method to prevent overheating of the vivarium.

You're welcome, I prefer using a heatmat as it uses electricity and can be left on all night which is handy as the reptile room can get a bit chilly in winter.

im gunna use a mat. So now does this mean there is no use for a bulb at all will they just use the natural light ?

Yeah natural light should be fine, mine don't usually appear until at least 10pm anyway and they are back in bed before dawn lol

ah right ok haha. i have the light on in my room anyway so they can probably use that anyway.

I personally use both a heat mat and a bulb at one end to get the temperature right, I think it all depends on what temperature the room they are kept in reaches. During the day their hot end should reach between 95F-100F.
