Default Beardie Set Up

Hi

Im new to all these picking my new beardies up in the morning.

I got everything i need and have put it all together.

Just wondering if any one can suggest the right temp for my heat lamp.

Ive got a thermometer at the cool end and is reading around 84f is this too hot?

Any help i would really appreciate.

Thanks.

Hi
I would put off collecting them until you have read more. Temps are something you should know long before buying.

Cool end sounds good. Basking temps should be 105/110F and the basking bulb (spot light from sainsburys!) should be attached to a dimmer thermostat to control the temps ... thermostat probe in the cool end so when the cool end reaches 80/85F the spot light dims down to cool ... and then brighton when it goes below the cool end temps ... think cloud going over the sun!
Good luck
Oh and remember, two beardies are an accident waiting to happen. They are not sociable animals and chances are they will fight. Two males will fight to the death if kept together and you wont be able tp sex them until at least 6 months plus.

A.

Thanks for the advice.

Ive got all my spot light connected to the dimmer thermostat.

Just didnt want it to be too cold or too hot for them.

Have read up on the temps for the viv just wanted to double check everything for them, just want it to be right.

Only going to keep them together for a month while they are lil and get them another viv as ive heard about the complications of keeping them together.

Natalie your a breath of fresh air .. well done for the two set ups. If they are clutch mates then keeping them together to start will help reduce the stress of the move and then later they will appreciate their own space.

You will hear lots of conflcting advice on temps and how to keep them. No one person is right but take some advice with a pinch of salt (and if unsure ask me, lol)

Concentrate on your cool end temps first. If the basking spot is too hot they can always move away from it but if the cool end is too hot they cant go anywhere to cool down.

Good luck and pics of the new aditions are always welcome

Awwwww thanks....wanted to keep them together for a bit as they are from the same clutch so they wouldnt feel too lost lol.

Been sitting watching the viv for ages making sure it all seems ok and keeping checking the cool end is cool enough as that is where ive got my sensor for my thermometer.

Just want to get them here now lol.

Oh yes pics will be on the way wanna get them settle first before i go all snap happy on them lol.

Thanks again.
