Question Reflector Bulb?

I have been given a couple of reflector bulbs for our vivs but I can't find anything which tells you why these are needed?

We use a Basking Spot Lamp, and just wondering if the reflector light is any use aswell as the spot lamp?

Thanks!

The reflector bulb is the same as a basking bulb. The difference is that there is a reflecting coating (not sure exactly what it's called) around the top and sides of the bulb. This directs the heat out the bottom of the bulb towards the basking spot and stops heat being wasted by going upwards. Sort of like a reflector dome.
I could be wrong ..............but thats what i always thought.

We had bought a 100w exo-terra spot bulb from Pets@Home for just under £7, and it stopped working yesterday, we had only had it about a month! So have been and bought another one and also been given these reflector bulbs so will come in handy for next time
