Default Just bought a beardie need a bit of help.

Okay i've just bought my first ever beardie it's about 4 to 6 months old i have been told by the pet store he seems to be settling in to his home very nicely he's been eating hoppers and locusts quite readily sometimes he will leave one till he can chase it around the viv the only thing thats bothering me is he doesn't really eat his greens i give him cabbage on one day then the next some kale so it gets varied and sometimes i put little bits of apple in there for something sweet i'm mixing it with nutrobal but everytime i put it in he just turns his nose up at it is there anything i can give him to actually eat just to put my mind at ease.

Thanks

belive it or not mine wont take greens and when they do (once a week maybe at most) they eat loads of the things around 3 bowls worth
BTW i stil offer them a bowls worth daily just incase, if your that worried try hand feeding them it or use a vibrating bowl but IMO they can tell if they need/want it and its best to let them decide

Don't worry about your beardy not eating greens yet. Greens are something they move onto as they get older (varies what age). When they are young they eat mainly live food.

As has already been said, keep offering them on occasion though and your beardy will decide when the time is right.

Hope that helps.

I tend to dust my livefood rather than my veg for the beardies that way I can be sure they are getting it.

With regard the veg.. It is important that you keep offering veg on a daily basis even as babies. Offer varied colour and flavour lots of mine love finely chopped butternut squash, one of mine only eats green veg so he eats watercress, cress, rocket, pea tops or shoots, dandylion leaves when in season, escrole lettuce, lambs lettuce, romaine lettuce and chopped peppers.

i wouldnt dust the greens, it will taste a bit yucky, chop finely but i spray mine with a bit of water, this way it stays fresh longer and also gives them a drink

My 5 mths old pair dont eat a lot of greens, they will eat a few water cress leaves if i hold it with the small feeding tongs or put it on their logs for them and a bit of rocket and butternut squash, but they wont eat it out of their bowls but I give them bowl fulls every day just hoping that one day they will actually go to the bowl and eat some from it.

I have tried all the mixed salad stuff from morrisons asda , tesco. and they dont bother , they will only eat some egg cress, water cress and rocket or dandillions. But they will eat 15 -20 crickets in the morning and again at tea time. they greedy for their live stuff. I have even tried feeding the greens a while before I give them their crickets but they seem to know that their live food will come sooner or later .
