Default new to the forum! just got a beardie!

hey all,

im new to this site, i bought my beardie (draco) about a week and a half ago! he is 3 and a half months old and since i have had him there have been a few things that have bothered me!

well here we go!

i have him in a 4ft viv and it has enough things to keep him entertained it started with him not spending much time in his basking spot! he prefered to hide and since it was located in cold spot he was always cold so i bought more stuff and moved things about and i blocked off half the viv so thet would persuade him to bask! and get the heat up. he also was not eating but after that he did start eating.

then i decided i was going to use the red light as his basking spot and install another light at the other end to keep the viv nice and warm. but i opened up the whle viv again and he seemed to love it and he ate a few times but he has stopped eating again!

does anyone know whats with this strange behaviour?
and also im noticing he aint sleeping much either well last night he was awake all day untill 3 this morning and how ever much longer!

info well appriciated

cheers

lee

would be good if you could list your temperatures at the hot and cool ends and what your general husbandry is like on the beardie matey , it would give us more of a clue as to why the strange behaviour.
probly just being a typical mad beardie though
by the way

With any new beardie you want to get a fecal test done I think its estimated that half of all beardies from a pet shop will have some sort of illness. If he had worms or some other disease this would put him off his food. Here is a link to pals site it costs 10-25 pound depending on what test you get done and they will send you a tub to put poo in and send off free post to there lab Pinmoore Animal Laboratory Services Limited
Its best to get the £25 test to check for crypto but the £10 basic test will pick up worms and other bugs

With new dragons it takes them a while to settle in so try not to change his stuff to much if he feels uncomfortable he wont eat. I would say its best if you don't handle him to much untill he is eating properly and settled in.
