Default BD not eating much

I bought a BD end of Jan, we have had he/she for a month now, and all he eats is a few Waxworms and a few mealworms a day, he won't eat Locust or anything like that, He has fresh water which he doesn't touch and also Kurly Kale, Papaya etc that he also doesn't touch.

It is a Juvenile, which I believe are supposed to eat lots at this age. He is quite active when you go to pick him up, and will move around if provoked, but apart from that he sits in the same place pretty much all day, not directly under the basking lamp, but near it. Hot end measures 30 approx, and cool end measures 24 approx.

Has any one any ideas what I can do to get him to eat?

He poops a lot still, and seems to be growing, he's not worryingly thin, but knowing how much he is supposed to eat and seeing how little he is eating, is very worrying

Your temps are way too low, and if you're measuring them only with a stick on thermometer, they could be even lower than you think. Cool end needs to be around 85F(30C), hot end 95F(36C) and a basking spot of 110-115F(43-46C) for a baby. Babies/juvies like it hotter than adults.

This will be the reason hes not eating much, as at those lower temps he wont be able to digest anything properly. Get the temps up, and get a fecal done, as low temps for a perid of time might have upset his natural gut flora, it might be a parasite issue.

As lee said above, upping the temps will give you a big improvement on his eating and he will be alot more active.

Good luck.

Many thanks for your comments, I will try upping the temps.

I did speak to the place i bought him from when I had the temp at around 33 at the hot end, and they told me it was too hot and to put it at 30-32. So I lowered it. I thought it was a bit cold!! Shows how much they know.

Hopefully he will improve

Thanks again for advice, much appreciated!!
