Ok so this morning both molly and oscar visited the local vets ...

and he said both geckos are bright eyed .... healthy and i have nothing to worry about. He examined both and believe they are younger than we thought, are far to young to sex at this time and after explaining the history so far thinks relocation stress is the only reason they have both stopped eating.

He was very honest, he visually examined the poo and said that i should give them another 2 weeks before submitting a sample.

and to top it off .... they didnt charge us for a 20 minute consultation.

thoughts????

sorry hun but first thoughts are that he cannot give them a full bill of health if the feacal samples were not checked fully for any problems ie: either by doing a flotation/smear test and checking or preferably by sending the sample to the labs for checking and personally I wouldn't wait two weeks before having this done.
With sexing ~ this can usually be done with some degree of reliability at the size yours are at with a loupe and if it's know what to look for

i was reassured to get the opinion of a 'professional' (please dont think im saying your not, you are unbelievably helpful!)but as you've prob guessed these are my first lizards and im very nervous about caring for them properly, i hate the thought of hurting them.

I'll shall obtain a sample tomorrow and let them send it away.

As for sexing, i now have the confidence when hadling that i can examine my geckos private parts and i cannot see anything that resembles the pictures in the sexing leo gecko sticky. However they are permanently apart so gender doesnt concern me a great deal at this time.

On a positive note (i think, hopefully!!!) oscar sat on my shoulder/neck for 20 minutes tonight and will happily climb onto my hand when im in the tank, so docile for only 2 weeks handling ....molly is stil a little nervous however as i dont handle her my OH does. (for smell/bullying reasons)
