Default ok what am i doing wrong ...

right after all the hassle i had with oscar ... my younger molly gecko is now losing weight and looking thin.

I dont know what im doing wrong!! Both geckos live on tiles now, temps are constant at 31-32 at floor level. They both receive fresh water every day, food is dusted but i cant get both of them to eat consistently.

they are booked into vets on monday ....

Oscar is now fine but am i doing something wrong???

i think your best to just wait and see what the vet says. all we can do is guess. at least the vets can pin point whats wrong.

let us know how you get on

How long ago is it that you separated them? Was Molly the one you moved to the new viv? If so then it could be relocation stress. I think the vet visit is a good idea if only to put your mind at rest.

both geckos were relocated to a new 4ft x 2ft viv. its seperated with a perspex/wood/perspex divider which is totally sealed with a non toxic bathroom sealer (i made sure of this).

The odd thing is both geckos are eating, maybe 6-7 locusts a night.

Maybe im worrying over nothing ...

Are you keeping an eye on their weights. I find this a good way of helping to flag up any problems. But remember that even when given the same heat and same food they will grow at different rates. Does Molly tend to hide away a lot? I am just wondering if she feels intimidated by Oscar as she can still see him/her.
Do you have any pics so that we can give an opinion as to whether either look thin?

im going to get scales today, it was always oscar who was the scared 1.

Molly used to eat everything, and used to shake her tale violently when eating. neither gecko does this now.

Nether gecko can see the other. i have a pice of board in the middle and the perspex is bonded to the outside of either side and its completely sealed.

both leos hide alot during the day obviously and i can hear them at night.

If they are both eating and pooing then that is good. The tail wagging when catching prey is something that mainly youngsters do - they get all excited - and it often calms down with age and as they are feeling more settled. So don't worry that they are not doing this now. If you feel that Molly is eating but not gaining or she's losing weight then a faecal check for parasites would be a good idea. Take samples from each gecko when you visit the vet as I'm sure the vet would want to check this. If you are not going to the vets then you can use PALS to do this. http://www.reptileforums.co.uk/gener...l-testing.html

one of my leos was like this and i ended up figuring it out that it was first of all to do with changing from this really fine calci sand to paper towels, because they get used to one thing and if it changes, theyll be like wtf and sometimes become stressed, hes fine now but also it could be little things the get unsure of, like i had my guitar amp in one place and then moved it somewere else and all hed do was just stare at were it used to be, it may just be mine whos done that but hes never really been unhealthy or anything, if your off to the vets and its nothing, at least its better to be safe than sorry, hope all goes well
