Default Healthy Babies

I have two baby bearded dragons. They are 3 months old (apparently say the shop). They seem to be quite healthy and are always hungry and running around. How do I know if I am feeding them enough/too muich? What should they weigh? I do supervise their feeding as one is much bigger and greedier than the other. They are feeding on medium crickets (loads), veggies and the occasional mealworm. Can anyone help as I am very confused. There is conflicting advice everywhere - even down to whether to feed grapes or not. I just want them to be happy! This is the first time I have ever had anything out of the norm and I want to be able to do the right thing.

Hiya, congratulations on your new beardies, they are such lovely animals aren't they!? I'm no expert but from what I know you should offer your beardies as much live food as they can eat in one 10 min sitting (and then remove any uneaten live food from the viv to avoid stress to the beardies). Young beardies can be fed livefood 1-2 times a day and have fresh fruit and veg available to them everyday. I wouldn't feed beardies meal worms as their exoskeletons are high in Chitin which is very difficult for baby beardies to digest, a good replacement may be locusts and the occasional wax worm for a treat (very tasty but high in fat). There is a 'sticky' thread in this section detailing what fruit and veg is ok for beardies which is def worth checking out. If you are worried about the larger baby getting most of the food you may want to feed them seperately in a different container, also helps you note and keep track of their appetites and overall health. Hope this helps.

Hi i got my baby beardie 3 days ago. we love him to bits, he is so funny.. i was a bit confused how much to feed as well .. he eats around 5 -6 crix twice a day, and will chomp at his salad as well... which is a relief as we had a leopard gecko who didn't eat for 3 weeks when we got her !!! however i've read that some will eat a huge amount , i'm sticking with crix for time being then i will introduce some locust as well... i do put the crix in the fridge to slow them down which has been helpful as he would catch 1 or 2 and then they would hide ARGHHHH . Fun and games isn't it lol
