Default Mk2 GOLF 1.6 Driver £100

The gfs car is up for sale in the next few days. G reg golf Driver 3 door

It was bought at the very end of Jan with a view of sticking an MOT on it and it being her first car.

MOT ran out mid Jan and the tax at the end of Dec. We've not really had time to try and tinker with it - there is the clicking on reverse which has been described elsewhere but I think is most likely front p/s CV joint and the age old oil buzzer coming on problem too. But thats about the worst of it from an MOT point of view.

When I bought the car it still had a dog-end of tax so I drove it home from Mid London to Southampton with no problems at all, it goes really really really well and I was majorly impressed. At some point it has had a Jetta front end stuck on it which I was going to replace with a 4 spot grille (I will throw the grill in with the sale, but not the lights).

In terms of bodywork its a messy sob - theres virtually no corrosion (as always though with a car this age you are going to be able to find some in the odd place) - the real downer is the paintwork, the laquer is peeling and looks a bit of a mess.

The other real problem is that the car doesn't lock, I've had the door handles off to try and work it out - I thought it was the lock barrel so was going to replace the handles and locks - got some genuine VW items (I know the aftermarket ones can be a bit crap) but that hasn't solved it so that needs investigation (note, the handles are not on the car right now as I didn't have time to re-fit them.

Photos to follow next time I can get to the garage.

Car is in a lockup in Marchwood, Southampton (just next to Southampton FCs training ground Staplewood)

Its an easy fixer-upper and I would sort it out myself if I could get the compressor to the lockup to do the hub nut!

I don't have the time nor energy to break it. I've been offered £50 for it but screw that - it would be worth more if I weighed it in!

And I have the possibility of a MOT'd syncro coming my way.

yeah just take off the jetta front panel, lights, and grille.and all the other bits that are good that people want.then weigh it in,i think steel is £120 per tonne now so you would get about £90-100 for it plus the bits what you sell.id love to buy it mate but im bout 100 miles away lol and theres no chance of me gettin there to pick it up.is there any coilovers or anything modified on it at all?

Don't think theres anything else modified on it. Apart from the boy racer gearknob!

Problem is that if I scrap it I want to keep the wheels but any scrappy will want to wheel it onto the trailer.

does it drive?ifso just drive it to the scrappy then when you have weighed it in on the weigh bridge undo all the nuts so the wheels are ready to fall off and get them to pick it up by a forklift or the crane so u can pull the wheels off, then all you do is weigh the wheels back out on the bridge.the scrap yards actually hate having wheels because it costs then £1 per tyre to get rid of the wheel,so it wont bother them that you taking them off.catalitic converters are good aswell, they are worth £40 scrap lol
